To celebrate Earth Day, the CS UK team has been busy making the office a little more wildlife-friendly!
They’ve installed a brand-new bug hotel, put up two birdhouses, and added extra feeders to support the local feathered visitors. The bird feeders are always a fun talking point when making a cup of coffee. With these new additions, they’re hoping to see (and hear!) even more nature around the office.
It’s a small but meaningful step toward supporting biodiversity and celebrating the planet – right outside their windows.
Earth Day, celebrated every year on April 22, is a global event dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting actions to protect the planet. It began in 1970 in the United States, sparked by growing concerns over pollution, deforestation, and the impact of human activity on the natural world. The movement quickly gained momentum, eventually evolving into a worldwide observance involving over a billion people across more than 190 countries.
The purpose of Earth Day is to encourage individuals, communities, and governments to take responsibility for their environmental footprint. Activities often include community cleanups, tree planting, educational programs, and advocacy for policies that promote sustainability. Each year, Earth Day highlights a specific theme—such as climate action, plastic pollution, or restoring ecosystems—to focus efforts on pressing environmental challenges.
Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder that the health of our planet depends on the actions we take today. It’s a call to rethink how we use resources, reduce waste, and protect Earth’s biodiversity for future generations. Whether through small personal choices or large-scale initiatives, Earth Day inspires collective responsibility and hope for a greener, more sustainable world.
