The stadium offers an expansive natural turf playing surface that covers approximately 200,000 square feet, providing a premium field for a variety of sports. The venue features innovative retractable seating, allowing for flexible configurations to suit events like concerts, soccer and rugby. This seating adjustment brings fans even closer to the action, creating a more immersive game-day experience with unmatched views.
Acting as a silent superhero, CS products are mostly hidden from view. Still, they are vital to the safety and well-being of the 42 million fans that have walked through the gate since the stadium opened in 2000.
CS supplied five different expansion joint variants. Our expansion joints are so versatile that they can be installed neatly anywhere, from the team facilities change rooms to the finer carpet dining areas. Our fire and water barriers are also hidden underneath the floor covers to give an extra level of protection.
Marvel Stadium sits above its peers, thanks to a retractable roof that can open or close in just eight minutes, ensuring events go ahead smoothly, no matter Melbourne’s unpredictable weather.
Marvel Stadium is not only a hub of cutting-edge technology but also a pioneer in sustainability. In 2008, the venue launched a significant water conservation initiative that reduced its water usage by nearly 25%. This was achieved through the installation of 17 rainwater tanks, which together have a capacity of approximately 250,000 gallons, collecting water from the 430,000 square foot roof. The captured rainwater is repurposed for practical uses, such as flushing the stadium’s extensive network of toilets and irrigating the playing surface. The system is supported by 10 pneumatic and 10 motorized water diversion valves, along with nearly one mile of pipework to manage the water flow efficiently.
Thanks to a multi-million dollar investment, Marvel Stadium is now the most technologically advanced and connected stadium in Australia, offering an unmatched blend of comfort, innovation, and sustainability for sports fans and event-goers alike.
