However, wood doors (such as Acrovyn Doors) are exempt from this test, as the ASTM E84 test standard is for building materials (interior finishes & trims). Wood doors have their own test standards, UL 10B/UL 10C, etc.
    • All fire rated doors that are manufactured by CS Acrovyn Doors meet the first and life safety testing requirements of UL10C, and NFPA 252. All fire rated doors are labeled under Guardian Fire Testing Laboratories or Intertek fire testing requirements.

  • The Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) has the final say on what is permitted. Since the fire door listing agencies (UL, Intertek, Guardian, etc.) have to adhere to NFPA 80, their response is typically that, if an AHJ will accept a door that conflicts with NFPA 80, they also should be able to accept a door without a label.
  • YES: Please contact the Acrovyn Doors team at 800.233.8493 with any specific questions regarding available glazing options or visit our contact page.
  • YES: Non-rated doors are able to be trimmed to width in the field, however, the warranty will not cover any damage resulting from the work performed. Field trimming will involve removing the replaceable edge components and trimming the core of the door.
    • Field trimming the width of a fire-rated door is not permitted and will void the fire rating.
